“Teenagers are perfect works in progress, and it is my goal to help each young person I work with to achieve their individual best in a manner that builds their confidence and hope for their future. My mission is to identify and build upon my students strengths, energy and curiosity as well as target their areas of struggle – helping them hone the attributes of successful learners.”

Sonja Younger

Sonja is NASCEC Certified | NCATE Accredited science educator with thirty years experience teaching neurodiverse teens with a dedication to student learning, engagement and achievement.

By focusing on the individual needs of each unique learner, her students become empowered to overcome obstacles, such as those presented by ADD and ADHD, to achieve academic goals.

Preparing students for the increasing demands of academic rigor is a gift students take with them and apply to all areas of their future lives, one Sonja has honed in her work as a highly successful teacher. Sonja specializes in the direct teaching of executive function skills, as well as test-taking and study skills for middle and high-school students.

In addition, Sonja serves as an advocate for her students, working with families and schools in establishing effective school-based supports. Sonja’s approach to academic coaching is whole child oriented.

Most often, she is able to provide lasting change by addressing the habits, patterns, and feelings that lead to an academic struggle in otherwise bright and curious children. Her approach is comprehensive, including academic coaching, executive functioning strategies and subject-area tutoring.
